PostHeaderIcon I’m an independent student, will this affect my legal guardian filing me on her taxes?

I’m currently in college out of state and I had to file independent because my grandmother is my legal guardian and on the FASFA you can’t use grandparents unless their they have custody and she doesn’t. Will this affect her filing me on taxes?

No. Your grant and her taxes are unrelated. No worries.

    Good luck. :0)

Check with the local IRS office or stop off at a tax prep office and ask.
Since you do not live with them, they may not be able to claim you as a dependent.
After the age of 18,you are considered an adult except in certain circumstances.
